What is CICI?
CICI is a database for animal-related patient cancer data. It is based on many of the same principles as the human NCDB (National Cancer Database), which is the source of human-based cancer statistics. Databases can track patient specific information related to patients’ “demographics”, cancer morphology, disease progression, comorbidities, treatments, and survival data. This information can then be queried for statistical analysis such as: treatment results/success rates, survival stats, etc.
Similar to the NCDB Model
Patient privacy and anonymity is protected. A similar “accession” number is assigned, much like a social security number. It allows one patient’s data to be included in one record, regardless of the number of treatments or disease progression. But only the original diagnosing clinic/vet will have the private contact information about the animal or the owner.
Beyond the NCDB model
CICI also tracks spay/neuter information.
CICI can track cost of treatment information.
